Dave Swarbrick was world renowned as the leader of Fairport Convention, heroes of the Folk Rock movement. In these two 'solo' albums he goes back to his roots and puts oult some fine folk music without the rock elements. I say solo in inverted commas as these albums feature most of the then Fairport line up and a few other guest stars such as Martin Carthy as well. The music here is less uptempo than some of the Fairport stuff, but I think that the slower stuff manages to convey a wider range of colour and feeling. All the tracks are instrumentals, but even so it is quite moving in places. Definitely well worth a listen, though it might be a bit of a surprise to Fairport devotees. Also of interest to fans of John Renbournes 'Sir John Alot' album I think.Tracklist:
